Volkswagen showcased its new Golf at this year Sao Paolo Motor Show. Along the best-seller, VW also brought a new concept, called Taigun. The world premiere is a fresh developed small SUV, developed to rival the current Nissan Juke.

The concept’s exterior look follows the very concise and clear Volkswagen design DNA. Painted in “Seaside Blue”, the Taigun has flared wings, rugged side trim panels, practical roof rails with integrated LED spotlights, 17-inch alloy wheels and size 205/50 R17 tyres.

Being 3,859 mm long, 1,728 mm wide and 1,570 mm tall, with a 2470 wheelbase, the Taigun also introduces a new generation engine.

The four-seat small SUV is powered by a new 1.0-litre TSI engine with 110 hp and a high torque of 175 Nm at a low 1,500/min. Equipped with direct fuel injection and turbocharging technology, the new engine can offer enough power for a car weighing just 985 kg.

This means that we can talk about a concept car that has a top speed of 186 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds. Even so, the average consumption is just 4.5 liter/100 km.

The SUV has also optimal space utilisation. The tailgate encloses a 280 litre bootspace; when the rear bench seat is folded down, cargo capacity increases to 987 litres.
