We need to shift our focus away from the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) and tell you about the 2013 Toyota Yaris Hybrid which was just previewed by the Japanese automaker through a series of initial details and photos that announce its premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
With this new model Toyota wants to bring the hybrid technology in the European B-segment, but not only will the car be unique in terms of appearance and efficient in terms of consumption and emissions, but it will also be the most affordable full hybrid available to Europeans.
This new flagship Yaris comes with an aerodynamic design featuring the new front fascia with the trapezoid opening element and the "Keen
Look design implemented on the front lamps".
Under its skin the Yaris Hybrid features a 1.5-litre petrol engine working in combination with a lighter, more compact electric motor, transaxle, inverter and battery pack, and the Japanese claims that this is the first application of their downsized HSD powertrain.
The reduction in size of every HSD component means that the occupant space and luggage capacity remain the same as in the conventional models.
The 2013 Toyota Yaris Hybrid with its 74 kW/100 DIN hp powertrain will go on sale shortly after its premiere in Geneva, and some of its standard features will include air conditioning and automatic transmission.
