Subaru unveiled the new generation Forester at this year Los Angeles Motor Show. The new crossover is showcased for the first time, as a world premiere.

The European market model will go on sale in the UK in the summer of 2013. Here, the new Forester will be available with three boxer engines including a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter petrol delivering 150hp, a 2.0-liter diesel rated for 150hp and a range-topping sport model powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged petrol good for 280hp.

The two diesel and petrol engines delivering 150 hp will feature a six-speed manual transmission as standard. The new Lineartronic (CVT) transmission will be available on both petrol engines.

The fourth-generation Forester is based on a revised version of the latest Impreza’s platform. Compared to the current model, the new car is 35mm longer at 4,595mm (180,9 inches), 15mm taller at 1,795mm (70.7 inches) and 20mm wider at 1,695mm (66.7 inches). The wheelbase has also been extended by 25mm, now standing at 2,640mm (103.9 inches).

Even though the design is not groundbreaking, 2014 Subaru Forester has new front and rear lights, a smaller quarter window at the A-pillar’s base and a bulging curve located on the lower area of the doors.

On the inside, the interior is almost identical to that of the new Impreza.
