Seat returns in the hot-hatch segment with its Ibiza Cupra, revealed today in production form. Based on the facelifted Ibiza and already anticipated by a concept in april at Beijing Motor Show, the new Ibiza Cupra comes with the same 1.4 liter TSI engine.

Under the hood the petrol unit develops 180 hp and 250 Nm, owing it all to a turbocharger and a supercharger as well as direct injection.

Thanks to such amount of resources, performance is good, with a 0-62mph time of just 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 142 mph or 228 km/h. Yet, the spanish hot-hatch is efficient, with average fuel consumption of only 47.9 mpg or 5.8 liter/100 km.

To cope well with those 180 hp, Seat tuned the Cupra chassis and lowered the ride height. An optional AP Performance braking system is also available, offering remarkable stopping power.

XDS electronic differential lock is standard and reduces the tendency to understeer, improving handling through fast corners along with an ESP electronic stability system incorporating hill start that is also part of the safety package that comes as standard.

Due to arrive in UK showrooms in January 2013, the new Seat ibiza Cupra is priced at 18.825 pounds. The order book opens next week.
