As promised, the French automaker has provided details and photos with the fourth generation Renault Clio today, a vehicle which will be seen in the flesh at the Paris Motor Show later this year.

The 2013 Clio is the first model to feature the new Renault Corporate identity, with a design described as a major shift from the previous models, and an interior that is "safe, protective and refreshing".

The new Clio, which borrows various styling cues from the DeZir concept, was "conceived as a piece of sensuous sculpture which stimulates desire." There are "no acute or aggressive angles, just voluptuous curves that make you want to go up to it and caress it", says Laurens van den Acker, senior Vice President, Corporate Design.

Some of the vehicle's highlights include the prominent Renault logo, LED daytime running lights, rear door handles concealed close to the rear quarter lights, and chrome ornaments above the side skirts. The vehicle is lower and wider than its predecessor and is also around 100 Kg lighter.

Its interior makes use of higher quality materials, with comfort being combined with user friendliness thanks to the dashboard that has been sculpted in the shape of an aircraft wing.

The engines available on the 2013 Renault Clio are a three-cylinder, turbocharged 899cc unit (0.9-litre TCe 90) that produces 90hp and 135Nm at 2,000rpm, a four-cylinder 1.2-litre plant (1.2 TCe 120) delivering 120hp and 190Nm of torque from 1,750rpm plus a four-cylinder 1.5-litre unit outputting 90 horses and 220 Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm.

In terms of consumption Renault claims that the TCe 90 variant, which will be available with a six-speed EDC transmission (Efficient Dual Clutch), will be able to return 65.7 mpg (UK rating) and emit just 99 grams of CO2 per Km.

Pricing for the 2013 Renault Clio will most likely be announced after this car will premiere in Paris in September.
