2013 Range Rover Unveiled

Land Rover has officially revealed the 2013 Range Rover ahead of its public debut scheduled to take place at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

Described as the world's most refined and capable luxury SUV the 2013 Range Rover is lighter, stronger and more modern, with an overall look that still incorporates the brand's iconic design cues.

The vehicle which is going to get manufactured in a state-of-the-art aluminium manufacturing facility in Solihull, UK, uses a lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body structure, a world's first in the SUV segment, a feature which helps it shave as much as 420 Kg of its mass and enables improved consumption and emission figures.

Apart from weighting 39 percent less than its predecessor, the fourth generation Range Rover is also going to offer improved performance and

handling again thanks to the new aluminium platform which also includes an all-new aluminium front and rear chassis architecture with completely re-engineered four-corner air suspension.

John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director, said: "The new Range Rover preserves the essential, unique character of the vehicle – that special blend of luxury, performance and unmatched all-terrain capability.  However, its clean sheet design and revolutionary lightweight construction have enabled us to transform the experience forluxury vehicle customers, with a step change in comfort, refinement andhandling."

Details regarding powertrains and dimensions are still unknown, but the company did say the car is more spacious, as if features a longer wheelbase that enables an extra 118mm worth of legroom at the back. They have also stated that customers will be able to choose between a supercharged V8 petrol, and the TVD6 and TVD8 diesel engines for propulsion.

In terms of technology the 2012 Range Rover will come with the the enhanced Terrain Response 2 all-wheel-drive system while at the interior the occupants will be able to enjoy the exclusive Meridian surround sound system.

The new Range Rover will become available for ordering in September 2012, with the full technical specs and pricing expected to be released after its premiere at the Paris Motor Show next month.
