The production version 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March but until that time will come, the automaker decided to share some information and an initial photo with their upcoming mid-size crossover.

Designed to "better cope with the times" the new Outlander will target CO2 below 130 grams er Km (depending on the market), will be equipped with advanced safety features such as Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning and Active Cruise Control plus it will provide a more comfortable driving experience to its passengers.

Mitsubishi has also decided to make the 2013 Outlander more practical by fitting it with a power tailgate, making the cargo area flat and adopting full 3rd row seating.

Described as "Solid - Safe and Simple" the 2013

Mitsubishi Outlander is similar in size to the outgoing model, but comes with higher grade materials and features a dashboard designed for better driver concentration.

On the European market the new generation Outlander will be offered at launch with two powertrain options  - a 2.0-litre MIVEC petrol and a 2.2-litre MIVEC Clean Diesel. The engine specifications and weather or not they will be backed by Auto Stop & Go technology depends on the market, but both units will be available with an all new 6-speed automatic transmission and in 2WD or 4WD configurations.

The Japanese company said their new crossover will also come equipped with an "eco-friendly driving system" that notifies the driver when she/he is driving at maximum efficiency.

After its premiere in Geneva the Outlander will go on sale in Russia in summer, in Europe (late summer), and then the rest of the world's markets (Japan, China and North America).
