2013 Mercedes GL 63 AMG Revealed

Daimler has revealed the high-performance version GL 63 AMG based on the recently debuted 2013 Mercedes GL.

The car is powered by AMG's 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine which means it produces 557 HP and 760 Nm of peak torque. These figures are transformed into motion by an AMGSPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission which features three modes, an ECO start/stop function and an automatic double-declutching function.

Thanks to this automatic transmission the new GL 63 AMG can sprint from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 Km/h) in 4.9 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) and also attain fuel efficiency and emissions figures of 22.9 mpg and 288 g/Km respectively.

The 2013 Mercedes GL 63 AMG also comes with a sports suspension with ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM roll stabilisation, as well as larger brakes (390 x 36 mm front and 345 x 26 mm rear), a quad-pipe exhaust system, 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 295/40 tires and the 'traditional' AMG body kit which mainly includes a pair of more aggressive looking bumpers.

At the interior the 2013 GL 63 AMG comes with with a number of AMG branded features as well as with parking assist, the COMAND Online system, collision prevention, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and a sports steering wheel as standard.

Among options customers will find 360-degree camera monitoring system, a panoramic glass roof and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

Prices have not been confirmed yet. Mercedes has only mentioned that the new GL 63 AMG will go on sale in Germany in November 2012, and in UK starting from 2013.
