2013 Mercedes A-Class continues to be a hit across the compact segment. The Stuttgart-based manufacturer has now a real competitor for the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series.

According to Dieter Zetsche, Mercedes CEO, the new A-Class managed to attract already 90.000 customers. A good job that will reflect in final annual sales. Mercedes will increase global auto sales by 5 percent this year from last year’s record of 1.28 million.

Mercedes aims to double deliveries of Mercedes and Smart vehicles to about 2.6 million by 2020. That will be enough to reclaim the luxury sales crown and surpass rivals BMW and Volkswagen’s Audi.

Zetsche also wanted to inspire some optimistic air for its workers and said that there are no plans for job reductions in the close future. That is even though the Germans are targeting 2 billion euros in cost cuts at the Mercedes division by the end of 2014.
