Toyota is introducing the facelifted 2012 Hilux, a revised version which features an updated interior, a redesigned exterior and more efficient engines through which the automaker wants to continue its success in the pick-up segment.
The 2012 Toyota Hilux facelift comes with a higher quality interior, a redesigned upper dashboard, a new, horizontal centre instrument cluster and a 6.1 inch colour touch screen that is part of the vehicle’s multimedia system.
At the exterior the 2012 Hilux features a new bonnet and radiator grille, reshaped headlamps and bumper along with newly designed front/rear wings, mirrors and alloys which come in sizes 15 in 17 inch.
Available in four grades (DLX, DLX+, SR and SR+) the 2012 Toyota Hilux facelift comes with two powertrain options : the 2WD or 4WD 2.5 D-4D manual in Single Cab, Extra Cab and Double Cab body styles plus the 4WD 3.0 D-4D which is also manual and offered as a Double Cab only.
Automatic transmissions are also available, and Toyota says the 2012 2WD 2.5 D-4D now packs an additional 24 HP at 144 HP and 343 Nm of torque. Consumption figures for this engine have also improved by 1.0-litre per 100 Km at 7.3-litres per 100 Km while CO2 emissions have been lowered by 26 grammes at 193 g/Km.
Both the 2.5 D-4D and 3.0 D-4D engines are now Euro 5 compliant due to the adoption of a Diesel Particulate Filter.
The 2012 Toyota Hilux price was not announced, but the automaker did say their new pickup will get sold in 36 European countries and more 135 throughout the globe.
