Chrysler’s latest model to receive the RT treatment, is the Dodge Avenger sedan, a car which will be unveiled at the 2011 New York Auto Show this week.
Under the skin the 2012 Dodge Avenger RT features the same engine and gearbox as the regular version, meaning a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 rated at 283 horses and a 6-speed transmission which in this case helps the RT return 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
So what sets the 2012 Dodge Avenger RT apart from the regular version you might ask. Well according to the North American car maker, this new model uses a stiffer suspension featuring increased stiff rates both at the front and rear, which help this sedan become more stable on the road and easier to handle.
The exterior is also slightly different, thanks to a series of aesthetic changes which include darker head lamps, a body coloured grille, 18 inch aluminium alloys, and the RT logo displayed in various places. Inside the cabin the new Dodge Avenger RT features a combination of cloth, leather and red stitching, with a newly added tachometer to the instrument panel and a premium sound system from Boston Acoustics.
The 2012 Dodge Avenger RT price was not announced yet, but the automaker did say that sales will begin in the third quarter of 2011.
